WV Lingerie Boutique Featured on Late Show with David Letterman

LEWISBURG, WVa. - A West Virginia lingerie boutique was recently featured on a national late-night television talk show.

The Late Show with David Letterman featured an advertisement by the Lewisburg business, Little Black Black Box Lingerie, on June 9 during his recurring skit called “Small Town Town News,” where the talk-show host king pokes fun at newspaper clippings from across the United States.

Letterman held up a Little Black Box advertisement which ran in a local newspaper called The Pocahontas Times. Among lingerie items, the advertisement also said “located Behind Applebees.”

The advertisement prominently featured a model wearing a Shirley of Hollywood Asian tapestry corset that appears in Shirley’s “Big Book 2009.”

“Guess what? Located behind Applebees,” Letterman quipped. “That’s right, take mom and the kids to Applebees and then swing by and get a little something for yourself.”

Little Black Box owner Ginger Steele said she first heard about the business being on Letterman’s show when a man from Iowa contacted her on the Little Black Box MySpace Website page, myspace.com/little_black_box_lingerie.

“It really took us by surprise to hear we were on the Letterman show,” Steele, who will celebrate her second-year anniversary this fall, said. “We’re unsure who sent our ad to them, but we would like to find out and thank them.”

Letterman was recently married and Steele wants to send his new bride a gift from her shop.

“We just want to say ‘thanks’ for showcasing our shop on national television,” Steele said. “It’s been a lot of fun. Letterman is a very private person, so I doubt if we will hear back from him.”
